Well while the wife went into the beauty store I went to the Petco next door. This is what I've seen in one of the aquariums. Was never a fan of Tuti Fruti Glo frogs or any man produced Glo fish. When will this end?20191019_121450.jpg

It will never end because little kids will always like fish and bright colors are what little kids like.
I personally will never have them because I strongly dislike their colors and I despise the fact that the company that was the mind behind this has patented the gene which means that every glofish that is bred is their property.
I will admit that I will give the green tiger barbs a 2/10 which is better than all of the other glofish.

I dislike them as well. The only positive is that it may bring kids into the hobby and as they mature so will their fish keeping, I hope.

Side note, you can spawn glo fish you just can’t sell them.

Im a fan of em despite being "popular" or "offensive" to whomever... the genetic process behind it is actually pretty interesting. Kept many gfp axolotl also. Most interesting species ive seen so far would have to be the gfp florida gar. I think initially people are offended because they believe these fish are dyed like in the past. Thats not the case tho. 1 generation is gentically modified then that trait is bred down the ladder. not much different different than desirable cichlid "hybrids". If this is what it takes to get kids/newcomers in the hobby. who cares?, we all started somewhere... I keep them as a joke, its about all you can find in the chain stores anymore and there illegal to breed or sell due to the companys patent. Even 1" fish have bs laws attached to em these days and thats funny to me.

Not illegal to breed.
Edit, apparently I'm wrong and the patent holders can shove their rules somewhere where the sun doesn't shine.

.

4.Intentional breeding and/or any sale, barter, or trade, of any offspring of GloFish® fluorescent ornamental fish is strictly prohibited.

The green longfin white skirt tetras are interesting though.

I stand corrected. I wasn’t aware you couldn’t even reproduce them.
intent Is hard to prove when it comes to fish spawning.
I don’t keep glo fish or ever intent to in the future so Seagrest doesn’t need to be concerned with me.
But it wouldn’t be impossible to spawn them by accident. I assume if you weren’t selling them it probably wouldn’t be an issue

I put them into the same group as blood parrots...fish i'll never own. I do have a gfp axolotl though lol

A glowing axolotl.... Since when has this been a thing?
