"Glowfish" Danios

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The ones from Asia arent danios. They are Chinese something fish, Haha. I watched a show about them last night, I forget what they exact name of them are, but they arent zebra danios. And they do have Jelly Fish DNA in them.

i saw that two. i cant remember what they were called some sort of mountain river minnows or something.

They are not sterile, and will readily breed for you with other "glo" fish or regular zebra's...the company that genetically altered them though has a patent though that prevents you from selling the offspring ;)

it's only illegal to sell heterozygous dominant for the trait if they are hetero theri genes are different and can't be protected under patent. that is, unless the trait is resessive.

theyve made a GLO pig or a few...

GLO pig. HAHAHAHA! They should use genetic engineering for something more constructive, like making kelp taste like beef.

They've made fluro frogs too.... i posted an article about it wayyyyyyy back somewhere. Oh and apparently, the bacon glows too, but pretty sure no one ate it.

The fish are genetically altered by adding dna from a jellyfish. From what I remember they were originally developed to detect water pollutants.

Yeah, that is the story. Apparently if there is a certain chemical in the water, they lose their color, although I am not sure which chemical.
