I would like to make a DIY vacuum, but my water pump didn't fit with the 1/2" pvc. It's 1/16" smaller than a pvc. How can i glue them together? Thank you.20160411_200158.jpg 20160411_200122.jpg

Hard to see in the photo, but if you used a glue of some description to fill the gap would it negatively affect the way the pump works, or is that want you need?

If so would superglue work?

pvc glue, might look for a metric reducer rather, if not a heavy coat of PVC glue like is used in irrigation.

pvc glue is a solvent weld, it does not work on mix materials (only pvc to pvc) and it actually doesnt work well when the pvc fit is loose. I say use electrical tape for now, just to see how the pump performs with a long intake nozzle. you may find that you want to take it apart, and the tape would allow that also.

Is it possible for you to find a short length of hose to cover pump intake/out and work from that, they have parts for hose connection in your home improvement irrigation section. Take the pump with you, and explain what your trying to accomplish.

Whenever I have an odd fit with PVC or any other pipe (for that matter) that doesn't quite fit together perfectly, I usually put a short length of clear flexible, plastic hose over the end, and tighten with a hose clamp from the home improvement store, then heat up the other end of a part of the clear hose, and jam PVC into that, and let cool to form a friction fit.

Perfect illustration, thanks Duanes:)

I was thinking about your way, but my intake is a small part inside. So i couldn't use the hose clamp on it. IMG_20160412_094300.jpg
And i used to try to use tape, white tape used for plumbing, to make the white pvc bigger to put in the pump, and it doesn't work as wellIMG_20160412_095355.jpg
