Go crazy on my 300 bowfront!! Give me some ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Keep it fresh.

Your stock looked fine, except I wouldn't put an aro in that tank. 18 inches wide at the edge does not give a 36 inch fish much room to turn around. I would replace the aro with a couple more Pbass anyways. 2 would just look wierd to me. I would put 5 Pbass in there and no aro. Use a big ol sump for filtration and maybe an FX5 for backup. Good luck!

still think a ray would be good in there, its 33" wide in the center

I think the Ray would hate life in there. Most are very active and even a Tea-Cup would want to get sold around 8-9". JMO

I would go with some Piranhas, Planted Discus/Clown Loach set up, Shoal of Red Wolfs and maybe Pike Odoes, Bichir City (Dels and Sens), Exodon Galore, Red Tail Payara to compliment some Catfish or Puffer Fish:D

Do post some pics when you start to set'er up... Filters, stand lights etc...

To me, that tank is BEGGING for Discus. Great dimensions for them. A school of wilds from Snook and some light planting would be amazing.

I like discus but I have 90 for some of those. Id hate to use a killer tank for something like that. I MUST have some tank busters in there lol. I like the piranha idea as well as the red wolves.
the Red Tail Payara is a top water fish right? I could put that in there with the wolves and maybe a larger cat.

But with the narrow shape you're kind of limited in the monster department. That's why I said Discus... they don't need all that much width.

They'd be more than happy in a 90, of course... and filling a 90 is much cheaper than filling a 300 with fish that can cost hundreds each...

Don't know if you set ur 300 bow front yet, but I would definitely go DISCUS!!!! Lots of plants and maybe some neons and Corys ( all from same region) Please post pics when ur done. GL.
