Goby Dragon - Ideal Tank mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
great i hope they do well. i hear stories about them being viscious but i have never seen it. The only odd thing that mine do is curl there tails up and swim in circles around the other. I thought it was a mating dance for awhile but nothing has ever came from it. Iguess it is one flexing its muscles for the other. IDK

How large are your gobies? How long have you had them? That sounds kind of like a courtship, or a territorial thing. Watch them carefully. If it's territorial, they might start biting. If it's courtship, then good job and I want to know everything about your tank.

It is my gsp's that are dancing. My goby is around 11''. i have had it for 1 year. My SG is at 1.017. I call it salt water but it is just close. The temp is 80F. And the ph is 8.1. The gsp's have been acting like this for quite some time maybe 8-10 months. They have never nipped at the goby or each other. I have no idea what they are doing. ---------------------How do you sex gsp's????

i have my dragons with 5 large senegal bichirs(round 8-10 inches) also with a 8 inch jade goby and peacock eels...so you dont always have to only get small gobies like bumblebees. my set up gets along just fine, just make sure you have enough hiding spots for everyone

Except that the violet (dragon) goby and jade goby need brackish water conditions, and the senegals and peacock eels are freshwater fish.

ive got one living with a larger stonefish 2 green scats and 2 sharks... other than when i first got it and the stonefish chomped on him which i saw and got stopped there hasnt been any problems. he thought the stonefishs cave looked good tell he tried to go in it.. goodluck

I just got a new 20 gallon tank, but it is a long one so it is ideal for my goby. Now that i have the right size tank I am looking to buy more fish. I am looking at some fancy guppies, would they be good tankmates for my South American Dragon Goby?

P.S. is there anyway to tell if my goby is male of female

You're going to need a larger tank than that for the goby. Guppies are not BW fish.
