in that small of a tank a sump is superfluous.. a pound per gallon of quality LR would be the main filtration as wouls a skimmer if one was to be had.. the aquaclear makes it a redunant system and a sallback if something should happen to the powerheads that water wan't circulating...
plus aquaclears o carry bio media and can very easily be converted into a good cheap DIY refugium... so i think that can handle the bio load.. as well as oversizing the filter for the tank.. in my 10 gallon i had an AC30 i converted into a fuge, worked fine, i had 0 nitrates...
