going to try breeding clown loaches

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
YES PLEASE!!!!

Have you looked into Chorionic Gonadotropin?

I don't believe that was mentioned here what is it.

It's used in hormone induced spawnings, hence the reason that is was not specifically mentioned in this discussion.

thank you R.D. I still can't believe the knowledge you have. It would be nice if the one who posted about success would tell us more.

Trust me, no one on MFK has had any success in breeding clown loaches in captivity, at least not sans the use of hormones, which outside of a commercial breeding facility even that I would be highly skeptical of.

If/when someone ever does breed CL's in home aquaria , there will be photos & video up the hoopla to confirm that success story.

This is truly one of those times it will be great to be first hope someone finds the way soon. Starting to believe these may be one of the most interesting fish in the tank to watch ours have started that laying on their side to take a nap thing really scares you the first time you see it.

This to me, is scary. Sumatra and Kalimantan clowns have a 900+ million year difference in genetics...

There was a decimal after the 9 meaning 9+ m years not 900m years.

I already think they are one of the most interesting and have thought so for quite some time. But that's just my opinion.

wild bill, wait until you see all of your cl's napping at the same time. It looks like a cult suicide pact ! lol

Has any one thought about using a false bottom using light grating suspended 1-2" above the bottom with rock or large gravel on top It could be they are spawnning but eating the eggs.
Back in my fishing days I would collect the eggs from the fish I had caught and freeze it in zip lock bags, feeding time I would thaw out a chunk for my cl's the eggs seldom hit the bottom of the tank.

I think that idea was brought up earlier it is believed the proper conditions to get them to breed isthe main problem.
