Can you explain the physical differences between the Loiselli and Friedrichsthalii (besides coloration)? How are their head shapes different? Pictures comparing and contrasting their likenesses and differences would help as well, if you have them. The Parachromis is my favorite species of fishes. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about them by studying their habits and behavior (I have 3 of the 5- managuense, loiselli, and apparantly friedrichsthali). I'm still on the hunt for a nice female motaguense to go in with the rest of these "killers". The Dovii, obviously, will not be kept with these others. I'll get a huge tank sometime in the future for a pair (I'm looking at a used 350 soon, the guy wants $1,000).

Thanks very much in advance. :)
Loisellei have very rounded, blunt head profiles and their bodies are not as elongated as that of Friedrichthalli. Freddies are chunkier and look rectangular, whereas Loisellei are more oval in shape. I don't have pics; here are some from Google. Thanks guys for the pics and explanations. They help out tremendously. So, is the opinion of most of you guys that my fish is a male Friedrichsthalii?

Does anyone else feel like weighing in? I'm almost convinced my fish in question is a male freddy. We'll see how it turns out in the next couple of weeks/months.:)

And, thanks again everyone for the help.

Yeah. I'll say it again: your fish is a Freddy.

Ok, I'm going to weigh in ....... You have a fantastic fish and pay'd a nice price for it. Wish I found good deals like that.
I realize this don't help much, but I think along with the masses, a Freddy
