Gold or black wolf?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fat.... Also the colours seem to be iridescent, very hard to capture on pics, they look fantastic.
Gold sheen is impossible to get in my pics.

Last pic for now...
Wish him luck over night.

Looks very nice. My mala took objection to me adding the chalceus, became very active with alot of flaring and nudging for the first week, now only pays any attention to him if it swims near the malas hide out.

Cheers, there's no damages today and the mala is looking much calmer.

Update time, no real damage, mala is fully in charge but ignores him unless it's feeding time with a warning nip.
Mala is eating hikari pellets like a champ, only interested in pellets.
The gold is only interested in silver sides ATM but mouthing mussel.
The gold has had a nip at some tankmates fins, since he has been added several fish have gold wolf shaped bites in their fins... Bit of a sod but could be a lot worse, hopefully he relaxs and accepts they aren't food soon.
Few nice pics with a new purple bulb added.

Nice you got an active mala. Wolf looks good as well ofcourse. As far as the nippyness. I've had plenty of experience with my gold doing so as well. Not sure if you've read any of it I shared as it's scattered. When first introduced it challenged the odoe but got beat up pretty badly. Like three months later after a wc tried the odoe again same thing happened. Never tried the odoe again. When I had the wyckii, the gold bit it after it ran from the black wolf, wyckii quickly bit the gold back, gold left it alone after that. He ate half of a 6" jag when he was 8". They were together for a few months, jag was growing in attitude as well as side. Not sure if the odoe or black beat it up first, but gold took advantage from there and finished it, it to say the jag didn't try to defend itself at first. Jag was a little jerk though, was flaring at everyone. I assumed he caught the black or odoe in the wrong mood, reason I know t was them that did the beginning damage was bite mark size was much bigger than the golds mouth. Few issues I had with the wolf which is why I'm always nervous adding something. The gold tried eating something else I believe but I can't remember right now. Oh it tried fighting the Trachy and sun cat. Lost to the Trachy. The sun cat and the gold went back and forth. Never bothered the bichirs. Can't think of anything else.

Cheers Moe, the only fish that seems to be a sod towards the wolfs is the male severum, picks on both of them so probably best he is sold before they turn him over lol.
Mala isn't so active tbh, there were pellets in there for the pic which seem to have become his catnip lol.
I'm happy with both wolfs just want the gold to stop nipping, he has had the black aro anal fin which isn't good, he could probably take his tail off if he wanted. I would like to get him off silversides due to that horrid oily residue they leave but not sure starving him would be a good idea with a taste for fins.
On a whole it's going fairly well tho, curious if the gold will actually grow with most reporting 10" max in an aquarium.

I see no reason it shouldn't grow past 10" given the proper time. Can't expect it to get to 16" in the next 3 years or something. I'd say it's growth will be like your sun cats maybe even less
