Gold Tulip Eels

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's been quite some time now, but my 6 tulip eels haven't eaten yet. I've tried cut-up squid, silversides, and feeder guppies and platies, but they're still not eating. Any suggestions? Tnx!

Are you sure they are Monopterus and not Synbranchus? (Updated pics?) Synbranchus - try earthworms.

Monopterus - always accept live fish - but not tiny like guppies. Try feeder goldfish, and earthworms also.

Thanks bro. I'll try to post pics tomorrow. I'll try earthworms too.

I fed my babies minced market prawns, like i say i have never seen them eat, but the prawns disappear overnight and they are the only thing that would take so much food, i also occasionally throw in baby guppies, they also disappear. The 10 gallon is home to some breeding dwarf shrimp from the same pond i got the eels from, they start disappear when i don't feed my eel regularly.

Pardon the crud - these are from the water lettuce roots; I put the plants in to simulate cover and minimize stress. Anyway, hope the photos help in I.D.'ing the eels.

Those seem to be Anguilla sp. More likely European, or American Eels. Where did you get them?

In which case, they probably will take prawn/shrimps and cut fish.

I got them from a restaurant supplier, who supplies them to restos as a food item.
