yeah if you ahve any secrets on getting them to grow any faster than normal feel free to share them... i have 1 that has barely grown out of my 5 and they all were the same size? the little one just hasnt hit a spurt or something? feed them feeder comets on the regular and frozen blood worms every now and then... i must have to try something else out that im missing? But looking foward to seeing them little beasts grow man congrats!:headbang2
 
is he the whipping boy of the group? i feed mine a few small meals a couple times a day and switch it up with diff types of foods.. hopefully i will soon have these guys eatting pellets.. but for now they are eatting gutloaded guppies, live black worms, and shrimp.... i dont feed my cichla goldfish, they are high in fat and low in nutrients... i stick with minnows.. if you want your cichla to grow fast...high temp, feed them nutrient rich foods and variety, good water quality, and decent size water changes... just try to keep your ph as consistent as possible.. i also add trace elements to my water but i think that is more for health and color

lol no i know where they are from ;) lol just not saying anything yet and yes they are deff monoculus .. i wish you guys could see the real color... if you check out AP for some reason the colors are closer since the pics on there look more golden.. shrug shrug ... i dont know maybe its just my computer
 
well when they are shown that small... i could barely tell.. cuz mostly all cichla look simular when fry... obviously your goin to know cuz you purchased it.. not unless you went out and caught them yourself... so cant wait for your surprise.. but i have a feeling if its a monoc sp.... its from PERU...
 
audi, around here in CT all we have access to in the pet stores near me are:
tuffies
commets
silversides---frozen
tiny guppies
frozen blod worms
freeze dried blood worms
freeze dried krill
then the supermarket for raw shrimp or somethig...
you said i should feed them fishing minnows? interesting i will have to try that
 
yea you can feed them fatheads (fishing minnows) not killies... my old large farmboys... a few years back would throw up killies after they have eatten them so dont feed them killies... feed them everythgin on your list minus the goldfish lol starve them if you have too
