Golden Dorado (Salminus maxilaris)?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just got two around 7"-8" from a fellow member on here and is currently housing them with my 7"-8" cichlas as well (check out my threads). These two are the most active fish I've ever own...they never stop moving and did I mention never stop flaring at each other too! They both swim side by side all the time and will chase the cichlas away once in a while. IDK why the cichlas aren't standing their ground...I mean I just added them in TODAY...before that the cichlas owned the tank for like 3-4 months now! It's amazing how these two only being introduced just today and is already taking over the tank.....we will have to see how everything goes like from now on. If it doesn't work I just might have to sell one and keep only one and see if that helps/works.

I got mine awile ago Say 3 months? When it was only 2 inches now its 6.5 7. And an absoloute pain in the but to my other fish. mainly my hampala barb. I had him in with bass for a wile he didn't bother them though.

He mainly was fed hikari, feeders, and shrimps

I plan on feeding tilapia, mp, and pellets. I hope they can catch up to my pbass...

I've got three dorado (8-12 inches) in a 180 with four pbass....i've had them for about 8 months and no problems......my big pbass was hammering the dorado.......had to move the big alpha pbass out ...........

I believe that the more fish in the tank will reduce territories........

I had these three guys from jeff about two years ago. All dead now. They fought constantly. First one got killed by ATF, the second one jumped out of the tank during fighting. The last one grew to 10" but was killed by a Dat. I recently got more from jeff. But just one this time. I don't want a bunch and watch them fight constantly. If I would you I would just get one and save all the headaches and fatality risk of tankmates and themselves.
