Hello MFK I was thinking about getting a small golden dorado for my 75-gallon aquarium. (Yes am aware that I will need a larger tank) I want to house it with a similar-sized African pike (hepsetus odoe). What are your thoughts on this combination?

Thanks

It’ll work out for a short bit and likely get bullied and/or killed due to its swimming zones. I’d avoid it and just keep a odoe pike if can’t upgrade to a larger tank.

Ok, is there any kind of fish that would do well in the 75 if I just had the African pike? I like fish that have teeth. Thanks for the help.

Is final tank is a 75g then do a tank full of exodons instead of the odoe pike and dorado.

I was planing a 180 6x2' tank if I got the African pike or dorado. Would some red tail barracudas and a payara work with African pike?

75 would be a grow-out

personally I woudl not do that mix in anything less than a 300G tank. The Dorado will grow to 18/24 inches in no time and need the space...

Keep the pike and some others like Silver dollars or other similar sized fish. The Brycon or Dorado will get too big and dominant.

Good luck.
