Being the kind of person that I am, I am going to call the FH specialist (he's a very personable guy, known for having the cleanest tanks with excellent customer service in the area) and ask for a

1. Aggressive and a glass banger.
This is very important to me. Probably the reason why I chose FH over other options after seeing one. The meaner the better.
2. Male
3. At least 6"
4. Not short body
5. Also maybe not terribly too Trimac-looking

Over the phone while he's at his shop. If so, I'm going on the train.

If not, I'm going to walk for a half hour to yet another Arowana/FH specialist and see what's up there too.

If not, I'm going to the original store and coming home with that Golden female. I still like her because she definitely had some pearly looking specks on her body.

Regardless, getting a FH tomorrow :)

Well I want to ask you this, what are you really looking to get out of an flowerhorn? If you want aggressiveness and being a glass banger, there are cichlids that does a hell of a better job. Dovii anyone? :D

To be perfectly honest I am looking for a personable fish that is full of character.

I've read good things about Doviis but only have an 80G. :D

Having wasted a lot of money on a supposedly personable/aggressive fish before, this time around I am just careful/demanding and probably annoying.

You wouldn't buy what, Musha? So far they haven't even posted a photo of the actual fish.

Sorry bro but I wouldnt, he asked I answered. Hope I didnt offend you. However if you have ever reallky bred flowerhorns, you know females snap factor is much higher that males. He wants to put an aggressive "female flowerhorn" in with non aggressive fish. As I stated before I wouldnt even spend 25 on it. If you like this fish more than you current stock then dx your stock and then buy it. If noy buy her, put her in with your stock and come back and tell us how it worked. Does that work for you R.D.? Also didnt he say the fish looked like the one in the picture?

Musha - No offense taken, but perhaps you missed this part, posted on page 1.

I will also have to sell my rainbow shark and amazon sword because I realize that they will be messed up by whatever fish I get.

That should help alleviate any concerns that you have about a female snap factor.

Grammodes(hopefully I spelled it correctly)? Aggressive as a Dovii, just a miniature version where you can keep it in that 80G for sure. If you want a dog like temper, flowerhorn is better to go with. If your talking about aggressiveness and glass banger in general, trust me there are other cichlids that does a hell of a better job at it. :D

Damn... i did my bad...

Damn, wish I was american, I might have a clue what that meant ! :naughty:

I got my FH for 6 bucks. He/She was about 1/2 inch when i bought s/he and is now around 3 inches. 40 bucks is a good price for a FH. A lot of places around here charge 2-300 for a 6 inch FH.

It all falls into what kind of quality is it...a 14" flowerhorn can be $40 and a 14" with a higher quality can be $500. :D
