Yes, and usually around $3000. Last tome I looked for one was in 2016 and was talking to Vincent about it and they were going for about 6-$8000 in Indonesia.
Yea I'm gonna need links or screenshots of that I saw a perfect one a few months ago on a japanese website for $7000 USD. They're not being bred commercially anywhere near the scale of platinum alligator gar and platinums are still $1000+ in the US.
The last price list I received from an Indonesian breeding facility was $650 USD for lower grade platinum gator gars being around $1500 for the AAA, so yes, right on Q with what I’m getting
Any that I take bowfishing are harvested for consumption. Its similar to alligator meat in flavor. I'm not one to kill anything without intent of feeding myself or family.
Always cut out the middleman, best bet for a good priced golden is to post a bounty on fishing forums, instead of going thru about a dozen hands (which increases price), then shipped to the u.s (which increases price).

I too have met people who have acquired their xanthic gars through a bounty. Though this IS a small community, and there's a decent chance we're talking about the same person.
