Golden Tegu

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your terrarium is a very nice one, it should last you like 1-1,5 year before you need a bigger one. The design your using its the correct one, in the long term just make a bigger version.

Thanks!
I guess its a mix of 'thinking like the animal', and learning from others.

Just now I see my Tegu eating his first locust. Finally.
I was starting to worrie about his eating habbits.
Quick I'm gonna get him another one.
I placed them outside in the cupboard on the terrace, cause they STINK!
Jeez!

I spoke a guy who has an adult Golden Teju. He has to put on gloves to handle him.
Told myself never to handle my herps with gloves.
Lets see how long I can proceed.

Here some pics on which his basking light, and the brightness of the UVB tube:

Together with an average humidity of 85%, results in a nearly perfect shedding:

On which even the least agile herpetologist sees his half tail:

For which I repeatedly appologize to him. And still do. :wall:

Now I gotta go, BIG HERPS on tv.

I keep re-arraging his (and by now I got the slight feeling it could be a HER), so her enclosure is what I keep changing, to keep the little critter happy.
And I gave her a bigger pool again, and despite the rediculously high humidity of 85% or higher, shes only to be found in the pool. Swimming.
Watertemperature is 26 celcius.

Tried every fruit, vegetable, leaf, grass, chlorophyl, or greenish rarity, but nay no de nana.
Fish, crickets, locusts, morios are most appreciated. Fuzzies no.
And not to be handled, is her biggest wish.
But Im relentless.

Here she is posing:

Im not sure, but see the intelligence in the eyes?

And very crocodile like swimming:

Great looking tegu, columbians prefer meatier foods. Usually only the argentines eat fruits and greens.

Thanks.
Yeah, Golden Tegus are meat eaters, and young, they eat insects.
Now Im sure.

Its simple, its the Lizard king:

At the moment Im thinking its a he, cause of his thicker throat:

And more docile. He stays relaxed when I open his den.
I can almost touch him without scaring him off.
Truly the Lizard king.
:D

very cool, I hope he continues to calm down for you!

very nice!!

but its not the lizard king. lol. ill be in possecion of that before long ;)
