hmmm perhaps this will help out a bit on the whole extinction thing.
Mooneye
Goldeye
Check out the distribution maps. Neither are far from being Extinct.
I knew about those fish, i just wasnt aware that they were Bonytongues. I misread the OP thinking that it was about "Mooneyes AND American Bonytongues"

A very fragile fish that will usually go belly up quickly after capture (seems due to stress more than anything) but people who can actually get them home say they take pellets but slightly tricky to accustom to tank life at first.

I don't think you'll need a pond but you might need to adopt a no tank lights policy and reduce activity near the tank for a few weeks.

Pretty much a widespread fish that likes larger rivers but for the most part secure over their range. Difficult to sample due to large water habitat but you can find them in medium tributaries near their discharge into larger rivers.

I think he is aware of that now, that's the impression I got from the last post anyway.

Umm, the main reason I thought pond was because the only tanks I may plan will be for tropical fish.

That and the fact that I don't even know if anyone can export them out of the US.

Secondly, I'd still like to know if they can live with Koi and Sterlets.

So, would it be worth a shot to keep these with Koi and Sterlets?

Sure why not? whole problem for you will be getting them as I know of zero suppliers for them and zero people That could supply them with export licenses that could get them to you. Cost would be pretty darn high and the chances of receiving them alive would be pretty darn remote unless you can find someone that knows the methods of dealing with them. You really can not transport these fish like a regular tropical fish or even Native. Techniques used for transporting shad I hear works with these but usually that is moving them a few hundred miles quickly using land transport and not by air overseas.

Best bet would honestly be trying to get eggs and have them shipped but even then once they hatch you have a whole different problem... No one knows how to actually raise them or much else about them at this stage.
