hello i want to know what you think about using feeder goldfish or any other suggestions to strictly predatory fishes

i don't use feeders because they can give your fish parasites. i am starting to breed convicts to feed mah fish but i would not buy them. only if you were to do it yourself.

oh thanks i just bought a pair of guppys today figured i might try that since they are supposed to be easy to breed

yeah they are easy, just keep the babies away from the parents cuz they will eat them before you get a chance to feed them to soemthing else :D

Well, goldfish can give your fish parasites if they are left in the tank with your fish... If your fish consume them as quick as you put them in the tank, then your chances of disease from the feeders is decreased dramatically(depending on the fish you're feeding them to). Not only do goldfish carry disease(with all live food you risk disease), but they have a lot of fat in them. When I use live feeders, I prefer rosies over goldfish(less fat but could still be diseased). I also quarintine the feeders for a week before I feed them off. All of this is just my opinion so --research-- and make your own conclusions.
Hope this helps!

I fed my piranahs feeders for years with no quarantine and somtimes the feeders would last as long as a week. I never had a single problem with disease and they ate thousands of goldfish. This was before I knew they could carry disease. If I had to do it all over again I probly wouldn't give them feeders often and at the very least quarantine them. Just my personal experience!

goldfish and rosies and most cyprinidae have thiaminase in them. So after a extended diet of them the fish develop a vitamin B deficiency(vitamin B is pretty important to most bodily systems).

If you ask me if you feed goldfish to your fish as the main diet knowing that, your probably not the brightest person.

btw as mentioned above there still is the whole parasite and bacterial issue.

How did you come up with this explanation?
