I've noticed many MFKers listed goldfish as their least favorite fish/one they dislike/.I've often noticed people responding negatively to goldfish in general on here. .I am curious why so many people dislike goldfish?.

-Is it because they are peaceful ,non predatory fish?.
-Is it because they are bred sometimes with extreme body modifications?.
-Is it because the basic single tailed goldfish are dirt common as feeders?.
- Is it because goldfish are considered noobie fish and no serious and or experienced fish-keeper wants to be keeping such a fish?.
-Is it because goldfish have been kept by people for a long time and thus not as exciting as keeping some newer fish species?.

I dislike them because I consider them a drone fish. Most have no personality. Other similar fish are NA minnows and SA silver dollars. Goldfish remind me of the NA fathead minnow in the way they act.

They crap like no tomorow
They're stupid( i had one run into a undergravel filter 3 times in a row)
they have no personality
i might have a different point of view if ive had fantails, lion heads, etc. but ive only had comets.

i just hate goldfish b/c they've flooded the market for literally decades. i had my share of goldfish already. i would have a koi pond, but thats a lot different from the run of the mill goldfish.

Just wait til you have a feeder that just won't get eaten. You'll fall in love with goldfish again.

agreed. my buddie had one that got to 10 inches. it use to eat other smaller goldfish. It had loads of personality.

I dislike them because of personal preference. I just think they're boring.

i love my goldfish... like everything fish have their place... and to me theres nothing prettier then a mellow out door gold fish pond.. with lily pads, frogs hopping..bees buzzing and flowers swaying in the breeze...they are just perfect .... open your heart to goldfish and you will understand their beauty.
