Goldfish produce 3x the ammonia/waste of tropical fish of equal mass. True or false?

Happy to question convention-er.

Great replies everyone! I don't agree that feeder comets and similar less-mutated types would be better off at warmer temps since they are still bred almost entirely in outdoor ponds, but as far as food not being digested thoroughly...yikes. I'd think then that an omnivore diet of easily digested foods would help to curb the mess. Perhaps a largely New Life Spectrum-based diet. That food lays heavy claims to be able to reduce the amount of undigested byproduct.
Otherwise I guess I'll have to face the fact that they are indeed a more polluting species.

I ask because my LFS has the cutest foot long white goldfish with one depigmented eye and one black eye. And he's a real charmer, too. But I guess I should keep my tanks open for my crayfish explosion, Colombian Tetra breeding plans and the bettas for now.

Goldfish are kind of like cows in that they graze all the time. I'm not saying that they will die if they don't but they are much happier if given fresh vegetables to graze on during the day, and of course this would lead to more waste. They also secrete ammonia from their gills, not just from their vent with poo.

Secrete ammonia from their gills, as in osmosis. 75%, and 25% is through excrement.

I'll tell you all from experience, that if you care for a tank like you should, ammonia won't be an issue..

I have a 1500 gallon indoor koi tank that is extremely over populated- my ammonia level? 0 It's only ever been 25 when I was cycling the tank, and honestly, my tank is cared for so often to such a thorough extent, I don't even have to check my water parameters anymore.

I only find them to be messier than other fish because they are larger and therefore need to consume more food.

As far, as food goes, it's also in what you feed. If you feed cheap filler food, it's going to be just like a dog and poop more. If you feed high quality food, more of the ingredients get absorbed.

Here's my tank:
