good breeding fish

ya i was thinken cons, hmmm

You could probably bring in quite a bit of money with Killifish. I've heard they aren't that hard to breed.

I would strongly advise you to consider anything other than convicts. Pick a less common cichlid and it will be easier to get rid of the fry (even firemouth, blue acara, keyhole, kribs). All are typically good parents. Angels are not normally good parents, so they may require more work.

I personally am a big fan of a small african tank, although I think it went down like a lead baloon....

I think a tank of small Africans would be a good idea for breeding. Most of the shellies command a decent price, and are fairly easy to breed (VERY easy if you're talking about multis or simis).

Around here, you can get 50 cents a fish for convicts and dempseys. Which, if you calculate how many fry you'd have (possible hundreds) and how many stores you can barter with, 200 fry come out to 100 bucks......

try some small tangyikan shell dwelllers, kribs, blue acara, even firemouths. don't breed small egg layers like tetras they can be a pain in the ass to raise(gouramis/bettas the same). Go with a dwarf cichlid maybe too like rams or apistogramas(not sure if it is spelled right). Another alternative to cichlids is livebearers. They are the easiest fish to breed and the fry are easy to take care of.

If you can outlay the cash for a good couple of pairs, you could do VERY well with some real Montezuma swords. The demand is really high for them right now.

lol maybe if you got a bigger tank setup a breeding with one male escondido and 1 female red devil breed back the best female to your escondido and the best male to your rd. it would take awhile but super rt are way expensive.

For a little while I was doin the same thing as you, tryin to breed fish for a little extra cash. I might just have bad luck, but it seems the harder I tried the fewer fish I got. Finally I just gave up and let my convicts and live bearers be. Now I got two tens full of convicts and a 29 gal full of live bearers. You can make money i guess, but any money I made went right back into the tank.

p.s. any one need live bearers or convicts. JK How much should I ask for these at my local fish store.

just keep trying and maybe get a larger tank than a 30-40 gallon...if you need money then you should get larger tank like a 100-125 gallon...if you look on craigslist you may find some freebies...my uncle got his 180 gallon for free from craigslist so be on the lookout and try breeding those male escondido and female red devils like what Mike fail stated already. With the hybrid fry's you can sell the babies at 1" and you can get cash like that for a expensive breed of hybrids...i know for a fact something is going on with my Female Red Terror and male Red Devil...and right now im not sure if they can breed or not but they both flare off my male umbee together
