Good Bye Datnoids..Hello Temensis Bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow. Tremendous coloration already. So many speckles, bangles(not sure what they are called with bass). Can only imagine what they will look like in 6 months.

What are you feeding these guys so far? Still 2-3"?
Their on Hikari Sinking Cichlid Gold Pellets mostly with occasional worms..3" and growing..color is really sharp and red starting to show. I've had peacock bass before but with all the new names I have to look on youtube to identify these.

Here is a comparison of a small tem to a small azul. Left one is an azul and right one is a tem. They were both sold to me as tems. Lol.

In my experience with these two, which is very limited, the tems are far more outgoing than the azuls. However, I believe that they are closely related and can achieve similar sizes, if I remember correctly.

he's looking good bro. and good picture with the azul next to a tem for refrence. seems like a lot of people are buying cichla that are misslabled for some reason.

Thanks. I’m probably not feeding them enough since they moved into my bigger tank. I only feed that tank every three days.

As far as the mislabeling goes, it probably stems from them being much smaller when they are labeled. At about 2”, they all look the same. Lol.

I don’t have any recent pictures of my azul right now, but I will try to get some soon and post them here. It is looking really good. It’s bottom fins are a really fluorescent looking, almost metalic turquoise color. It is about 6” right now.

Niceee. When you do posted updates do it on a new thread. would love to see them. but at 2" i can tell them apart. its more in body shape and face shape etc. but maybe its a good thing you feed tems every 3 days. they grow super quick. my tems grew idk how many inches in a few week period.
