Cheaper than table salt even? Table salt is just as effective.

You are not supposed to use table salt.
Then you are quite wrong. Forgive me but you will find that you have been believing myths that iodine and anti-caking agents are dangerous to the fish. This is part of the marketing ploy of several petstores. We all know by now most petstores want profit, not your convenience whether their actions are ethical or unethical.;)

Many of us have used table salt without ill effects. Spending on aquarium salt is equal to spending on "cycle" products when you could have used table salt which is cheaper and just as effective.

I'd suggest reading this topic.

+1....

I use canning and pickling salt. It's pure salt, no caking agents or iodine. It is about $1.25 for 5 pounds.
