I've used Zebra Danios many times as dithers with large cichlids. As long as you have a school of them, they will be fine, especially with big dumb fish like Oscars. The Oscar may catch one from time to time but they cost like 20 cents. They're very fast, they school well, and they look nice in a large tank when they school.

Zebra Danios are classic dither fish and have been used by many people for a long time for this very purpose.

HAHAHA HAHA:ROFL:     MY Oscar eats 20 at in one Bite LOL... THey never stand a chance... OH wait my Oscar eats 2-3 times a week nothing a coy little danio could get away from .. My bad... I guess conditions are diferent .. :)

Some times things like Congo Tetras and Giant Danios can work with Oscars, but the trick is you have to start with them in there from the beginning so the Oscar grows up from a baby with them in there. That way they are usually too big to eat and arent considered food.

But this is certainly not the case all the time and is really a 50/50 chance.
