the best filters i have found for the money are the aquaclears...i have 2 aquaclear 50's and 2 aquaclear 70's the 70's are on my 105 gal tank and the 50's are on my 50 gal piranha tank and my 45 gal oscar tank. i love how easy they are to clean because my piranhas and oscars are very messy.

good advice:). What part of Indiana are you from?

right on, cool to see another hoosier!

i have a tetra tec pro power filter with a heater in the filter but it is loud and uses 4 big filter inserts that get dirty quick...i like the fully submersible heaters you can put them right on the gravel but hiding the heater behind the undergravel filter tube is a good idea...

I find UGFs a pain to clean and its also not very efficient. I think overhead filters are the easiest to maintain. For hiding equipment a sump tank would be the best.

my 105 gal has 2 aquaclear 70's and an undergravel filter for my powerhead to sit on. if it wasnt for the design of the powerhead i wouldnt have the UGF

I like combining a ugf that covers about 1/2 the tank with a power head and also 2 external filters, each rated at least 50% greater than the tank volume.
