3 dats, but they may fight as a trio so one may be best, you could also have a medium sized snakehead or 2,channa melasoma, punctatus, pleurothalma or parachanna africana or obscura,i would go with one dat and 2 SH's

My friend had an ornate that was over 2 feet, you could not even get your hand around his body. He also had a royal pleco that was over 18 inches and a few 12 inch clown loaches. They were the biggest fish of that species that I had ever seen.

I have a 4'x2'x2' for my bichirs (ornate, del, sen) electric blue lobster, and spiny eel and I am growing up an albino sen, tire track eel, and peacock eel to put in there eventually (fish size permitting). I have pretty much conceded putting anything that swims in there because they grab onto anything that swims around. Even if they can't fit it in their mouths. I had a gourami in there that was about 6 inches long (when my bichirs were only about 7 inches long) and the sen literally grabbed him by his anal fin area and shook him until he died. I saw him do it too, and I chased him with a net but he would not let go.

I really just want some thing to make the tank look lively.
maybe some Barbus Fasciatus or Denison Barb Barbus school of 20.
maybe 4 x Geophagus
maybe one Datnioides
striped Pike Characin group

I'd be paranoid about putting in denison barbs because they might get eaten...and that is an expensive meal.
