Good Large Catfish Between 18-30 Inches

Any good catfish you people can think of? The catfish could be 3 foot long if it's cool. I want some large catfish in my pond in the future. If I do get to make it 9x5 foot, would a redtail catfish be fine? Would a sturgeon catfish be fine too?

I think a rtc would be to big.. 4 feet cat in an 5 feet width pond..

I wouldn't even think about it until your pond is built, catfish grow fast and you are just going to get flamed again until your pond is built.

There are plenty of options between that size range but definitely wouldn't get an RTC if you want to keep your aro ;)

Just my personal opinion but I'd want something bigger for a RTC. Even considering the recent threads showing them taking awhile to grow after they hit the 40 inch mark, they still do put on substantial size prior to that. I also feel RTC's are more of a cruiser then a lot of other cats and should have more room to swim. Again that's my opinion. As for the Sturgeon Cat if your referring to Platystomatichthys sturio then I'd be worried housing it with any fish that gets to 2-3x bigger then it as I'd figure it'd eventually become prey. A Marble Achara I believe would be fine as well as a Juruense or a lot of the other Pimelodidae.
 
A giraffe catfish would be perfect imo. They're large growing vacuums that are fairly active and non predatory. As stated above though, I wouldn't purchase any large growing catfish until the pond is already built.

they also grow slow so you could get one now if you are for sure getting the pond. Get to 12" in about a year, 20" in 2.5 years and then REALLY slow down until about 24"
 
Thanks! All of you people that understand my situation. I think RTCs are a little to big as well. Are there any catfish that are rather 'flat' and catfish like? I don't know if anybody is like this, but I'm obsessed with flat catfish. I cannot get enough of flat catfish. Are there any catfish like wallago in appearance? I have wallago on sale in my area. I've heard they can get 3 foot plus and I'm not ready for something that size before the pond.
