Good luck to all

I love how hes online now:ROFL:
Are you talking about me. Cause I just finished saying it was me doing something I regret and how I was wrong. So what's so funny about that? Unless your one of those people who never made a mistake in their lives. One shouldn't throw bricks when you live in a glass house. In other words we're all human so we shouldn't be making fun of anyones moments of weakness unless we've never had one ourselves.

I think you don't understand: When someone recommends using the "ignore" function, they don't mean "just ignore people who annoy you". That is a literal forum TOOL/choice which members can implement.
So, someone who just grates on your nerves, you click on IGNORE, and you no longer even see their posts when you are logged on here. They disappear, but only to you.
It's like a comfort-zone button that no one even knows you're using. Voila!
I'd like to have a magic wand that'd make certain actions invisible *to me* everywhere in the world. but no chance. To get that, you've gotta come here and get really aggravated first. then someone tells you. (I think our fortitude is being tested)

Yes but the problem with that is that ONLY you can't see his posts. So he can reply to ur thread call u all kinds of names that everyone else can read, and u might reply "oh thank u, ur right" refering to a post above it. Banning someone to reply to ur threads is much more effective since u don't allow him to make any comments on ur thread, and if the person is being rude to everyone he will eventually be banned from replying to all threads, effectivelly removing him from the forum by majority of votes.

Hello; I see your point. I will try using the report this post icon I learned of a few posts back. If there is there a way for me to ignore/ban someone from my threads, would that only be for threads that I have started? I guess it gets back to reporting to the moderators and if enough do so it will be as you say and the offenders will clean up their act or be banned by them. I am still learning how to navigate the forum.

I remember when i first joined not too long ago. I would ask a simple question and 9/10 responses were not helpful at all and usually just criticized my tank size and what not. As annoying as those people are, you cant let that stuff get to you. Those types of people are apart of life and will jump at the chance to be douchebag. Best thing to do is ignore even though its tough sometimes. good luck

@ Koltsix Surprisingly this thread isn't directed at your past mistakes and I was not directing my post at you...:chillpill:

Hmmmm, I think that's what I asked first and then said about what people should do incase it was directed at me. Not that it matters since you would still be attacking someone in this case I guess the OP and what I said would still apply. Never mind the fact that the last 2 comments where directed at me and it was a reasonable assumption that your statement which had said nothing other than it's funny he's online now makes it hard to reference who your talking about. I think most would assume it would be in response to the last statements which where made in the thread, which was between me and 2 others. With that said are you truly surprised that this thread isn't directed at me or is that sarcastic wit and a attempt at a attack on me? I'm imagining it's probably meant to offend as I don't think your surprised the thread isn't about me and are trying to refer to me as someone who is of a self important mindset. Which means twice you did try to belittle someone which is rude and is exactly what's against TOS and what this thread is about and inspite of that I merely suggested we don't judge people unless we're perfect ourselves. And just to let you know I've been here for awhile and I'm not in the habit of getting bent out of shape due to posts. It's why I've never been banned or even received a infraction here. So I assure you I don't need to chill as I'm not upset.

I had the same problem half the people said i needed a 90 gallon tank for one oscar! The other half said that it would be fine in my 55 gallon! WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

Depends on what kind of fish your talking about? Though most monster fish in my experience aren't too happy in a 55 due to how narrow it is front to back. For anything that maxes out at 12 inches I would go with a 75 as a minimum, though Oscar's can grow larger than 12 inches. I'd go with a 75 minimum for an Oscar and lots of water changes. They tend to be messy and can foul the water of a small system fairly quickly.

Yes my suggestion is to ban someone who offended you from replying only to your threads. And if he offends another person and another and another he will be banned from replying to most posts, so it will be like voting someone out. The moderators as mentioned before don't have time to read all posts and even if reported the offender will in most cases get off with a warning and deletion of his offending posts.

Hello; So far no additional response from the moderators other that the one from Red Devil already cited. Other members, in addition to myself, seem to be posting along similar line. Perhaps we will get some guidance at some point.

For the record, I have been active on this thread as well. I was the first mod to comment on this thread. So the "one" moderator comment is a bit off.

There is no way you could put control of the banning into the hands of the members. We wouldn't have a site left.

If someone bothers you, put them on your ignore list or report the post via the report function. The moderator team will address the issue. Of course, this is not to say that every reported issue is met with banning or infractions. The issues are looked at individually.

People have to remember that we are members to, we just volunteer to help keep the forum clean. We do our best to remove abusive and foul language, but sometime you just have to let it roll off your back and move on. If it truly offensive, report it. We will deal with it. But differing opinions and non-compatible personalities are the way of the world. Not everyone will get along.
