i've had loaches w/ my pike, jags, firemouths, and red terrors....they seem to just ignore the cichlid aggression and go on their dopey way. in all cases they were ignored by all the cichlids in a matter of days...except my butterfly loach...the pike thought he was tastey. i've found yoyo and tiger loaches to be a lot of fun...always moving

Thanks , i think i will get a few maybe 10 Loaches later on in the year , after i have got all the other fish in the tank . If i think there is enough room for them .

Do you know anything about the Rams and if i could get a few for the tank ?

Are they ok with my other choice of fish or will they just get killed ?

real plants look better, but they are a lot more work...lighting...nutrients; and the fish can always dig them up...

Thanks , i have had a fully planted tank before or a many years , so i dont really mind the work to keep them alive . The main reason i ask is because i like the look of real plants much more than fake but am not sure if the real ones would be ok with these type of Cichlids , as i havent ever kept real plants with Cichlids before .

Just been having a look on 'net and have found these few plants i like , thinking on ever using a couple of types or just sticking with just one type of them , not sure yet .

Do you think they are any good to go in the tank with the fish ?

Amazon Sword
Crinum Thaianum

Echinodorus Ozelot
Nuphar Japonicum
Giant Torta
Aponogeton Boivinianus

v and then foalting some of this in the tank v

American Pennywort

Bump !

Anyone else got any good ideas for me , about fish or plants ?

Bump . . .

Could i , instead of getting the Loaches get a very large school 15+ of Corys instead ?

Or even get both the Loaches and the Corys ?

Never had Loaches before but i have had a school of 10 Corys before . When i had them they were so cool , swimming about none stop up and down round and round searching for food , chasing the other fish about . I was just thinking they would make the bottom of the tank alot nicer too look at .

As far as I know Cory cats would get chased pretty badly by the Loaches. I personally like the Loaches better. And cause of the size difference the cats might get stressed which could lead to ick....

Plants? NO CLUE. Never had 1:D. I did buy a silk one the other day and put it in with my Midas! I have to say that I am impresses with it. The Midas swims in it and he doesn't even try to tear it up! I will get more of those!

Oh and the tank you put up is looking great!

Thanks , so , i could get the Corys just not if i want to get the Loaches too .

Not sure now which to get Loaches or Corys .

Never had and always wanted some sort of Loach but on the other hand i love the way Corys act in the tank .

Cool , never thought of them .

Goe's not sure about as if i went with them i probily would just like the tank full with no other Cichlid . But Choc' i'll have a think about them .

Anyone got thoughts about them plants or should i just go with fake plants ?
