Renee, you are wise beyond my years:grinyes: and  Kudos

Thanks, Chompers--comes at an ironic time--my high school is a s**t hole, lower income kids don't care about anything nor do parents--county is making a "big turnaround" by revamping faculty. So, I got canned. Guess 25 years of arting and teaching, 2.9 degrees, and being at this school 8 years isn't enought. Like I said . . . . stoopid, stoopid, stoopid. . . . :wall: So, it's Cinco de Mayo, I'm gonna get margarita makin's if any one wants to party . . . . .

its not even each petsmart or petco or any lfs is different. Its the employee and their knowledge and willingness to sell or not sell based on the information given. I have generally had good experiences with my local petsmart, althouhg I must say it depends on who I get to help me. some couldn't tell the difference between a goldfish and a peppermint shrimp, but there are some who have a vary basic knowledge, and then at my shop there is 1 lady who seems to know more about fish than most of the stafff at the lfss..
so yeah to each his own...

I am currently employed at store #1380 PetSmart, Palm Springs, Ca.

For what it is worth to anyone here, I work in the PetCare/Specialty department at PetSmart. While I came in with prior aquatic knowledge, the rest of my staff had not, and our organization was moderately in-depth with training about the various rules to fishkeeping and showed an overall concern that their employees be knowledgable enough to keep the trend with increasing responsibility with regards to fish wellbeing.

As in any store however there are the few who just don't care and are irresponsible, but overall, PetSmart seems to have become very rigid in making sure people don't just disregard a fish's health for the benefit of a buck.

I have turned many, many, many............. customers away from making just the most stupid mistakes with their fish.

"No sir, you cant keep that many fish in a 3 gallon"

"No, goldfish cannot live in a 1/2 gallon bowl"

"No ma'am, fish do not grow only to the size of their tank"

"Because....they will EAT them!"

"NO!"

I care.

i think its hilarious how they always got pacus for sell. that'll bust someones top fin tank.

yeah isnt that their brand. maybe im thinking petcetera.

well water changes is a drag , if the fish grows big , get a bigger tank

doesn't really matter, if the glass or acrylic isn't strong enough ,the pacu will find a way tobust it :)

I used to have a topfin tank, it sprung a leak within 2 weeks. Lets just say Im never getting one of those P.O.S.'s again
