good price for snake keeping kit?

I am not sure, since I haven't been to a reptile expo but have seen a lot of pics of them, but I wouldn't imagine they would carry everything you would need to keep your snake. I think they would just sel the snake.

I've been to multiple, both in pa and ohio. They had pretty much everything...of which everytime I went I loaded up on frozen mice, as they are much cheaper than stores there.
However, what I did notice at one was that they didn't really have any thermostats for sale, just rheostats...and if going the rheostat route, just splice the cord or an extension cord into a dimmer switch for much cheaper instead (reason to dial down is those pads can reach 120+ degrees).Also, if going to an expo, make sure you know the prices pet stores charge for goods too before you buy, as although you assume it's cheaper at the show, I've seen certain items marked way up.

It probably varies show to show, but the ones i've been to have some vendors dedicated to just supplies. Everything from enclosures, decor, heating, etc.....

Same. I think you probably haven't seen pictures of many people selling supplies cause not many people care to take pictures of that kind of stuff. There are usually at least a couple vendors selling only tanks/enclosures and a couple selling only supplies (everything from packaged foods to bulbs to thermometers to substrates) at shows I've been to.

to answere all these questions, i have done a lot of research on them, but by no means am i done. I was thinking of setting up my 30g for it when it gets too big, but i just got some more fish and am going to keep it for fish, so i will buy a 20 long just for it. i have a 10g that i will empty and clean and i already have a screen lid(though its kind of old, i think i'll get a new one).

i'm setting the tank up with a screen with clips on it, an under tank heater for up to 20g, aspen bedding, a hide spot on both the colder and the warmer side of the tank, a sterilized rock(i boiled it for a long while) to help with shedding, a good sized water dish and maybe some plastic plants.
oh yeah and two digital thermostats

Dude get a tank with a sliding screen top, they are more secure. Also don't worry about the snake being "too cold" while you take it home, that will not be enough time to have any negative effects. Cornsnakes and Kingsnakes are pretty bad@$$ when it comes to being able to tolerate lower temps, after all most come from places where outdoor winter temps get way colder than what it probably gets in your house. You should get a book on Corns and read it, there is tons of info out there on them.

those tanks have small gaps and with a small corn snake you need to lock down your tank also the kit is not that bad it comes with some stuff you need but me personaly i buy it all piece by piece that way it looks the way you want plus the stuff they give is not always the best

I like the sliding tops for lizards. They are easier to get off and pretty secure... then again, I don't have to worry about my geckos making a break for it either...

your setup idea doesn't actually sound that bad at all, so it doesn't sound like you need that much more research. I think you mean two thermometers though, of which what I did for my ball python setup was buy an Acu-rite thermometer/hygrometer combo from walmart for like 13 bucks, put the probe on the warmside heat pad under the hide, and then put the unit itself on the other side. That way I got both the hot and cold side readings, and then the humidity as well.

i hear you. i bet they will beat walmart's price at the expo tho. i'll be sure to post pics of the complete setup and the snake when i get them
