what if he did.....he doesnt know everything about fish.......im asking for more opinions.....you go to the Doc and he says you have some terrible desease.....should he be pissed if you went to another Doc? My buddy knows im asking for more opinions, he agrees.

Just saying, I thought maybe he thought you didnt trust him lol..."bad friend" :D

nah he knows he doesnt know that much and he wanted me to do some more research and get opinions so we dont kill one of the fish.

BUY Him!! Flowerhorns are beautiful!!! Where I live I've seen most FH that are not even nice go for at least $100 at that size!! Most at the Fish store that I go to alot sell for $400 - $500 Canadian

i think the FH would take over and beat up my JD and JAG. The Festae i dont think she will.

It is a safer bet to go with the Festae if the FH isn't gonna be a solo fish.

I used to have a FH too...evil red eyes....Crazy ass fish...relentlessly pursued and killed EVERYTHING...Cons, Firemouths, Red Devil etc.

It just would not stop biting til the fish is dead, or close to dead....it stripped a sunfish of it's fins and scales in 5 minutes.

the fish is 3.5 years old....not near the end of his life just a monster and i was wrong about the size....its in a bowfront and kinda distorts the fish....we measured it at 9 in. i was close tho. the Festae was measured at 7in. how big do they get?

no really, if that fish is 12 inches then its been really power fed and the life span of a flowerhorn is 7 years on average. but the power feeding will shorten the fishes life span and hes probably going to be 'dead in the water' (sic) in a year and half

Isn't 12" a good size for a 3 year old flowerhorn growing normally?

Powerfed? Hardly. A FH will reach its final size within a year (which is usually 12" give or take a few), no powerfeeding necessary. They grow quickly. Average livespan for a large cichlid like a FH is longer than 7 years...they can easily live for 10+ if taken care of properly. So the fact that its apparently 9" now that its been measured, at 3.5 years old....is completely normal and isn't going to cut down on the lifespan of the fish.

no 12 inches is massive for a flowerhorn. especially in a home aquarium. i have a two year old that is only 7 inches at best
