Powerfed? Hardly. A FH will reach its final size within a year (which is usually 12" give or take a few), no powerfeeding necessary. They grow quickly. Average livespan for a large cichlid like a FH is longer than 7 years...they can easily live for 10+ if taken care of properly. So the fact that its apparently 9" now that its been measured, at 3.5 years old....is completely normal and isn't going to cut down on the lifespan of the fish.

Yeah that's what I kinda thought, around 10 years....

BUT if it has been powerfed, then yeah, it will cut down on it's lifespan...which is not good... :(

the fish gets fed everyother day. my buddy is freakin huge maybe he takes steroids and puts them in the fish tank too!

Lets see some pics. Festae are cool though. Interesting dilemma???? What to do?????? Get both!

Just saying, I thought maybe he thought you didnt trust him lol..."bad friend" :D

I'd say he's a good friend either way, if he'll sell it to you at a loss. That doesn't necessarily make it a good price. I would say that value is subjective, and if you feel it will add to your standard of living then go for it.

I'd pay 100 bucks for a BIG fish that I really like! :grinyes:

no 12 inches is massive for a flowerhorn. especially in a home aquarium. i have a two year old that is only 7 inches at best

Just because you have a 7" FH, doesn't make it the norm. At 7", its probably a female, which do stay smaller (7"-10"). However, 12" for a male Flowerhorn is completely normal, and I've seen them get much bigger.

I ordered a 1" Male FH about 5 months ago and now it's already 6". These guys grow so fast!

Im going with the Female Festae....cheaper and more color......no regrets i hope. i just want everyone to live happily :D

I just bought my first $50 fish today..I love it. Next stop $100 fish. A fish is worth a lot more than that if you like it. AND IT LIVES.
