Hey!

Like most of you guys on here, i live in America and as most of you guys know Snakeheads are banned in America

Ive always had an interest in snakeheads ever since ive heard of them, and have always wanted one, recently i visited India where these fish can be found in the local ponds and lakes, this is were i had my first encounter with a live snakehead which was pretty cool!

ever since then its just made me want one even more, but their illegal

so im pretty sure im not the only one here with this dilemma, what is a good substitute for a snakehead? doesnt have to be exactly like a snakehead just looks wise for example i own a betta and the only reason i got it was because it reminded me of a snakehead, so ya what do you guys think would be a good sub for a snakehead

i dont wanna hear bowfin since i dont have the means to house such a big fish

Thanks!

You probably should stick with your betta if you can't house the most snakehead like fish that there is....

Or polypterus, bichirs, they are also snakelike but not aggressive really to anything that's too big enough to eat. They do death roll like gators if they're trying to rip a chunk off a piece of tilapia or something

1 snh2.png1 SHG.png snakehead gudgeon. Very aggressive predator that resembles the smaller snakeheads and only gets about 8 inches.
