Good spinning reel for pier fishing

ive caught some small red and mango snappers off that big pier in panama citybefore it got smashed.

they have "piers" all over South Florida where you can catch red snapper .
 
Thats nuts, Ive fished piers in the Gulf of Mexico for years and I have NEVER heard of a red snapper being caught off of a pier.

BTW, its mingo snapper ( a small snapper that usually lives in water 100+ft deep) no mango. Its rare to catch red snapper in water less then 40ft deep.
 
I am going to go this weekend if my new reel arrives if not next weekend the latest will ofcourse post pics of fish I catch or others catch if red snappers
 
I dont doubt you cause fishing down there is totally different then the panhandle, but the rule of thumb is no shallower then 60ft for red snaps and about 100ft for mingos. Out of Pensacola the 60ft mark is about 5mi out. The 100ft line is about 15mi out. Needless to say, the longest pier in the gulf with a max depth of 20ft at the end will never hold red snapper. Mangrove snapper are caught though and once a sailfish was landed from the pier!
