Careful with that. I have heard both good and bad things about jeeps....

Get an AMC Jeep and you won't have any of the "Chrysler" issues. :)

I have a post AMC designed ZJ Grand Cherokee and it's been a great vehicle. Of course it has a 318 V8. The AMC designed 4.0L inline 6 is a great engine but when Chrysler took over they paired it with a crappy jap transmission and they sometimes bump heads.

are the jeep recon or patriot any good?

The new JK Wrangler has pretty high ratings so I would assume it's a good vehicle. It's the flagship jeep so they put a lot of time into it's design. I don't know too much about the Patriot. It's probably a good vehicle but you can only get it in two 4 Cyl. models. I'm a V8 guy. :D

On a side note, my wife has a '03 Jeep Liberty Renegade that has been a good vehicle for her. But like all new cars it has more electronics in it than past models. In the 6 years we've had it, two of the senors have gone bad in it and had to be replaced. Lucky for me I have an autoscanner and I know how to fix things so I only had to pay for the sensors which weren't that expensive.

Patriot is crap....not a jeep at all. Just a car witha Jeep badge on it. If you are getting a Jeep go with a wrangler....depends on what you are going to use it for. I have a 94 Cherokee Sport as a winter/work vehicle and it has been great. Wranglers are fun, but they lack in room. The new unlimiteds have 4 doors and a bit extra room in the back....can still take the top and doors of and 4-wheel it almost anywhere.
