Good "Starter" lung

Lungs eat gars, mine did, and two tinfoils, the aro may work, ive never tried it.

Powerful fish with large, non nippy mouths work best in my experience if you intend on having tankmates with your WAL.

However WALs love boiled potatoes. I put one in for my Plec and the lung completely ignored the prawns and went straight for the potato. Just thought i would mention it.

Ok cool.
Thats why I might not add the Lung.
I might just do an aro, and two gar.


Im really wondering about SAL's.
 
Now ive seen a SAL next to a WAL i must say that i like the WAL better.

Personally i would go for the WAL over the gars and aro and just find something to add with him.

A nice effect I saw was someone had a heavily planted tank and 60 something guppies in a 100G tank with their WAL.

They kept him well fed and the guppies bred faster than the WAL could eat them so it all worked out. That may be an idea...
 
Yeah, I was thinking of that. I've got a 35 empty that i might plant and get a good sum of guppies, maybe some shrimp aswell. Once the guppies produce I could add the fry into the lungs tank.

I could get some floating plants and put them in the lungs tank for the fry to hide in.

Well, thats how another member did it. In one corner he had a large bundle of floating plants that the guppies would hide in, and eventually get eaten.

In the 75, Do I just lower the water halfway for easyer access to the surface?
How will I filter it with it half empty?
Thats just what I was thinking about yesterday...
 
Well it depends on the size of the lung and the deapth of the tank, if you know both of those common sense will tell you if you need to lower it.

i never lowered my water level and i got him when he was around 8''.

Ok.
Its a Standard 75 gallon with 2'' depth, so I'll just have to see.
If the lung is struggling to get air I will lower the water level.
 
Awesome.
I think I'm gonna go for it once I get the tank set-up.
