I just wanted to post this link that David sent to me.. its just a blog for peoples oppinions on the subject

http://news.blogs.nytimes.com/?p=119#respond

look what the rest of the world thinks of the US now... the only people who think that we did the right thing are the Shiites and fellow americans.. kinda funny huh... and we didnt want to start WW3 but I think that this is only the begginning

I believe it was inevitable regardles of him being hanged or emprisoned for the rest of his life .... He was to be the beginning of the end regardless of how... And we were destined to play our part regardless... There was no escaping this after Desert Storm... The pieces fall as they may always come to the same end result... Just delayed or quikened in my opiniion..

I understand and accept what you are saying rottbo. However the terms ‘set the example’ and ‘set the bench mark’ come to mind. If we treat an evil murdering dictator with respect courtesy and rights, all people following his path will expect the same. The fact that he was kept a in a square concrete box with what appears to be a ‘unfair’ trial and sentenced to hang gruesomely, shows the united nations of the world will not put up with it. If we didn’t take such extreme measures, such people following such paths would have less to fear and expect. And we would look like we are rolling over and letting them get away likely because of ‘rights’.

At the end of the day, it is easy for us to say how we should have treated him and given him fair rights. But I bet you that if it was your mother, sister or wife he killed in a gruesome fashion, you would not be standing for his rights.

Fact is, most of us were untouched by saddam directly, and at this distance it is hard to understand what his victims and their relatives went through.

Let us forget he was a dictator for a minute, the focus of the trail and his convictions were for murder. And he was on trial for just a fraction of the murders he committed. It boils down to a cold blooded mass murderer in charge of a country with huge amounts of resources. He had been a danger for to long, it was only a matter of time until the rest of the world woke up to the tragedies he was behind.

.

I disagree with this ... For the simple fact there can be no comparisson of the two peoples..brecause 99% Mohter Loving Americans would have died trying to Kill him and Succeeded long before now... And 99% of Iraqis would just write it off as they did for so long .. They are A broken people.. And cannot be expected to do what we would for our mothers for theirs..... They may have wanted to.. But had no will to..

Sorry off topic but I had to and the rest below too :)

There is no comparisson here.... We as a people in the USA kill for any reason period.. Especially if it is our family.. we do not care who did it.. They are on the list :( For the Iraqis they were defeated along time ago..

IN the end of every book their is no reference to America :D I believe for 1 reason we will die to the last one of us and not stop til we are all gone.. For not just our cause but EVERYONE ELSES as well.. We will one day be defeated though I believe on that day there will be NONE of us left :D Though I could be wrong.. I know a few that would sell there mothers for a rock :(

Strictly my opinion ...

When I saw that he was hung today I looked at my husband and said "Well Bush can resign now!" Its not over, and alot more is going to happen. I am glad that he was sentenced to death though. With being hung was not justice, to him it was just death, he wasn't tortured like the ones he killed. One less person on Earth, but now many more will live!!!

Mr Bush could have resigned long ago, in fact let me revise that, he should have resigned long ago. As should of Mr Blair as well. However that is steering away from this, so let us get back on track.

Unfortunately 'many more will live!!!' is an undershot. The death toll yesterday was 75 people last time i was informed. Killing such an idol has only triggered an excuse for people to fly off the handle, and hence lives are lost. I think many more lives will be lost before many more can live.

i've got the vid.. nothing too exciting.. people shouldn't celebrate anyone’s death doesn't matter what they have done, no one should be PROUD and HAPPY that someone has died, in my opinion, they are no better than Mr Hussein.

lets get that bush fella on trial now?

the video is floating about. it was all done by the iraqi's, and i think the way it was done has sparked reason to believe it was done by the hands of revenge more than anything (due to location, things being said during, the day it was done etc etc).
he was a definate murderer, and in my opinion whether he murdered one person or a few thousand, he should be executed, but thats just my veiw, and i'm afraid he fits the bill perfectly. however at the same time, this guy is what-70? now he can be hanged, shout "go to hell" and is happy he died a martyr. damn. shame there will be a backlash to this.

I think he got away to easy. In this case, death is an liberation. He should have a couple of weeks of torture first, nail pulling, bone crushing, light gas attacks, poisoning, etc, etc. And if he whold die they should all they could do to bring him to life again so they could continue the turture.

Watched two verisions of the video last night. The cnn version didn't show much and the camera phone version was fishy in ways. I don't think anyone deserves to be put to death in such a horrible way but the middle east are a primitive people and obviously "human rights" is not in their nature. Lethal Injection would have been more acceptable to me. We should euthanize the leaders of every corrupt goverment(incl. our own), that'd be alot of leaders.

After seeing so much crazy stuff in movies. It's hard to put it into full perspective that someone's being hanged in reality and you're watching it..

He's probably alive and well in a mountain side hole in afgan and you guys are sitting here arguing about him.
