GOOGLE SKETCH-PRO+BORDOM=WOW!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
john- do you have a mac or pc, on both you can just type in the dimensions of the line/box you want and sketchup will automatically do it for you. it will also remember commonly used lengths that you've used and sort of "snap" to those lengths

well, this isn't a tank, though i've done my tank and a plywood tank in sketchup, but this was one of the final projects i had to do for a class, it's one of the buildings on campus... (and please excuse the shody craftsmanship of the doors and windows, i worked on this for a long time and got fed up with trying to fix them, haha)

:D. you guys dont know how glad i am to find that i'm not the only one!! :D

older design of my planned lounge somewhere in the distant future...20x15 room with a 6x5x2.5, 8x4x2.5 and twin 6x2.5x2.5 tanks. probably going to be re-done with bigger (and more!) tanks soon.

a more recent design, and one that i'm planning on getting in 2 years, 8x5x4 fiberglass tub with a viewing panel.

Here's one that I did yesterday while trying to figure out the ins and outs of google sketchup: It's something that I've always dreamed of, a cylindrical tank with a sump system built right into it. I show the path of water in picture 6. Also, the darker glass on top represents lids that can be removed for maintenance and etc. Let me know what you guys think and how I can improve. Also, FYI the tank is completely transparent for explanatory purposes. Ideally, the inner tube would be either a solid color or 3D, and the lids would be solid color or clear, and there would be media in the sump chambers, etc.

matt that cylinder would be cool if u had bill gates money lol.

sash i personally take a screen shot of my drawings, put them into paint to cut away the extra unneeded background, save them as jpeg and put them in my photobucket account.

xander that would be a damn nice room to just kick back

special K - that looks nice, i'd say it took a while. looks like the real deal

I believe it is under save, you can select to save it ad an image instead as well. That is what I have used.

The pipes were a pain in the ass for me to learn to be honest. Use the follow me too, eventually you will figure it out, it just kind of clicks.

yeah like if u make a cylinder up, and try to make some come out the side and drag them out, it won't let u. got to be a way i just haven't cared enough to try.

I used Sketchup to design the stand for my 180 a few years ago:
TankStand_ss.jpg

This stand has a 180 gal on top and a 22 gal bowfront on the bottom left, and a sump behind doors on the bottom right.

Sketchup is an easy program to use and fun too.
