crazy coincidence yesterday. on my lunch break i went to the lfs and was talkin to a guy about how i was thinkin about getting a 125 and it just so happens another guy in the store was selling one. so i tell him to see how much he wants for it and im standing there listeniing him naming off prices for all the stuff and im like never mind. but just for fun i ask him how much for everythin. he thinks about it for a second and says.....150
SOLD! i got tank, stand, lids, sump, and pump
all i need is rock sand and a protien skimmer and im set :D
but what do you guys think i should put in it?
also how much sand do i need to get about a half in to an inch layer?

Sounds like a good deal if the tank hold water and everything works!!

ha lol. its still running at his house. this guy knows his stuff. he has a 340 gallon reef and is setting up another 300 gallon reef to replace the 125.

Do a moray and some damsels. :D

Sounds like a great deal!

30 lbs of sand should do the trick.

i doubt that. i had 60lbs in my cube and it's only an inch and half.

If the tank is a 72x18 cross section 125 gallon tank, then you will need:
~27lbs for a half inch layer
~54lbs for a one inch layer
and that is for oolitic grade or medium grade sands.

If you do suger fine grain sized sand, then add about 25% more to the above totals.

i think im gettin my sand and rocks from marco rocks and there sand is the really fine sugar sand so i guess like 50-60 lbs should get me close to an inch. maybe.
but i think im goin to do some sort of eel and maybe a bamboo shark till it gets too big and a few groupers like panther and miniatis. my lfs has an oriental sweet lips that looks awesome. does anyone know much about them?
n fish mamma, you kick mine i kick yours and it will still be less out of my pocket :D
:P
but im filling it up tom hopefully. of course i get it in last night and the blower for my ac went out and it was 85 degress in my house. my reef was at 83!!! it sucked setting it up when it was that hot and humid.
but i will get pics up when its up and cycling.
