got a 125 for preds crazy deal!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea, maybe a little. im sure it will change tho. i figure a stock list before you have the fish is kinda like picking your major as a freshman in high school lol

Yah but look at how big they get
the eel gets about 5 ft long including width it would knock over a bunch of stuff even at 2-3 ft , along with the banded shark, the poter angel will be food and possibly the tang.
Including their waste, think about it for that you would need a 250+ maybe even more. i would subtract the eel, shark and one grouper and the sweetlips get pretty big as well so that might make you change your mind.

i put the black in and it looks pretty good. it is slightly magnetic but i dont plan on having bright light so hopefully i wont have to clean but when i do a water change and i can just do it by hand. no biggy.
also put a green corris wrasse in and he is doin good so hopefully next week i can add a real fish :)
oh another inhabitant is a coast shrimp. had to throw him in since he made it 2 and a half hours in no water!!!! i was scooping them out of a bucket and putting them in a bag to freez and one flicked and he has been alive for 2 days now. he will survive untill the first pred goes in at least.
all i need now is lids and lights and im golden :)
so far money spent:
150-tank, stand, lids, pump, sump and uv sterilizer that i traded for 30 lbs of rock.
40- on more rock and rubble for the sump.
free- black sand :)

expecting to spend around 1oo for lights and 80 to make a hood. also im goin to add a huge octopus skimmer before i get everythin in there.

inhabitants will most likely be:
miniatus grouper
panther grouper
oriental sweetlips
powder blue
potters angel
hal tusk
banded cat shark
tesalata eel.....
how does that sound?

Off the top of my head, I have no idea what any of that stock is.. but it sounds like it's gonna be the shizzy!!!;)

Panther, sweet lips, harly tusk, and banded most likely all get too big for this tank.

I had a harly in a 125g, and even though he only got to about 3" in my display I was thinking what it was going to be like when he was 8". These are thick fish, and they are active. They also arent like tangs where they will just jam themselves in anywhere, they like to dig a cave under some rock. I would say at least a 180g to keep a harly now.

As far as the waste point goes, that really just comes down to filtration.

Bigger skimmer, carbon dosing, algae scrubber, purigen or other chemical medias, bigger water changes.

There is always a way.

lol. you guys.....
i know they will get too big for THIS tank :D
thats why i will have to go bigger!
everythin i get will be tiny. except the tangs
i might think about an algea scrubber.... thanks for that reminder fleshy! almost forgot about those!

You're welcome. I will always lend a hand to another aquarist trying to break all the rules :D

What is your end set up? What size tank do you want to end up with? I am feeling a custom build. :D

Nice deal. I grabbed one a month ago. 120 all glass aquarium (4ft), stand, hood with built in lights (2 ballasts), sump. For $300....

lol, its a suprise to even me :)
lets just say im getting a protien skimmer that is made for a 300 gallon tank :D

idk about custom, prob just wait for another deal like this one.
but if i did go custom i would do 72x36x36
or maybe a huge corner tank :)
oh and i got the first inhabitant, a pearl scale butterfly. i hardly ever see them so i figured it would be a good fish to have in there

Pictures! Ha

My skimmer is rated for 400g on a 125g...so you are going to have to do better to impress me there! :p

I think if you really want to do monster fish, you should at least go 8'x36"...depth can be like 24"...more I think is usually just a waste of space.
