HMMMMM maybe 8 ft would be better. but now i need to find a house with 2 8 ft walls.
im really liking the big corner tank idea.
like bow front point to point make it 6 ft and front to back like 5ft and use the back corner for over flow box.
or a cube yea...... a cube is what im goin for. 5x5x24 kinda like a shark pool. then i can put it anywhere :)
i really hate this monster fish crap. it lets my imagination think it can just do what ever it wants and i have to pick up the bill :/ even tho i do like the results lol
 
Yea, to its credit though, the hobby has made me a lot more handy with my hands and tools. (It has also increased/impoved quality of my tool collection. Now I just need a table saw. :D)

I like the cube or corner tank ideas...you just want the biggets footprint you can get IMO.

I also think that a SW pred tank needs at least 6' in one direction for some of the larger more active fish to swim. (Tangs, triggers, etc)
 
ha i wish i could say the same. i spend all my money on fish and dont have money for tools.
i can always barrow tho :)
n i think a 5x5 cube will give most fish alot of space. they can swim in a circle and it will be endless. it wont be like a rectangle tank where they have to go one way and turn around they can swim freely in any way they want inside that cube. fish seem to enjoy a cube better or they just look better bc they can swim all over.

Cubes are sweet for the reasons you listed...but if you get a fish that is 2' long (your panther grouper) he has a little more than twice his length, instead of adding an extra foot, and having three times his length.

Plus swimming style comes into it, lots of things like triggers and tangs like to cruise in one direction.

Its too bad you cant get an 8'x8'x24" :D

i got new lids and lights just now so maybe tonight i will take a quick pic.
n hahaha that would be my living room man. it would be awesome tho.
i got a 2 bulb t5 4 ft fixture i know it sounds a little small but i dont want alot of light so i can aviod algea prob. and the fish dont need light really.

talked to the fish store today, they should be getting a banded cat shark in next week so hopefully its a healthy active one.
have a bat fish on hold getting him after work. he has been eating really good and is really active
