midas,GT's,and JD's get tto big..... firemouths and convicts will be fine......

x2 unless you want to have a single JD or a single GT. the Midas would still be too big by itself.

Midas will definitely get too big. JD would be fine in a 55g.

ya, midas too big for 55. single JD or GT would be absolutely fine in there. I would get one of those over cons or firemouths.

The JD, and firemouths are a good choice along with salvinis and rainbow cichlids.

JD and FM combo would probably work out great. I have a similar stock together in one of my tanks. JD, Pink Con (Just like a FM), and a school of 13 GD, and a little Clown Pleco that hides around somewhere. Anyhow, they were in a 95g and I just downgraded them to a 45g and they seem to like it a lot more for some reason. Didn't think a tank could be too big for a fish? Anyhow, my JD used to hide all the time and spook super easy and now that I swapped them to the 45g long he comes out 24/7 and doesn't get startled and comes right up for food.

I have 2 x55's one with a male jd with 2 male cons and they are fine . The other tank has a con and firemouth with a pictus cat some tetras swimming around also, both setups work and look great lots of plants and logs.

You could do a male con and a carpintis Texas with some giant danios... That's basically what I have in my 55
