Oregon, it's part of 'Murica!
Just got a free 125+ gallon tank. The only thing wrong with it is the bottom is cracked but I think I know how to fix it. Its a rimless tank. I want to a piece big enough to fit the bottom and then keep the cracked piece on the tank. Whats the formula for tank measurement?

I had a tank with the same crack. I just siliconed both sides and never has a problem since then.

I would love to do that but being as we are rent I would rather be safe than sorry.

Could I just get a piece that fits or is slightly bigger than the bottom and "patch" it?

Yes, but essentially unless you replace the whole peice than you are in the same risk boat, if not greater. I rent too BTW :)

did you find that on albany's craigslist? i only check eugenes but if you're finding finds like that, i might have to work that into my search.

congrats btw

Yeah it was here in town. I usually check Eugene's every so often. But I got a call last night from a friend saying it was on craigslist. So we went don't and picked it up.

Whats the formula for tank gallons

I figure I would silicone up the crack and then get a piece that is slightly bigger than the entire bottom so like 1/2" or a 1/4" is sticking out on the sides.

IMHO that would not really be doing more that simply just sealing it off. Just smear a thin layer into the crack on both sides, wait for it to dry, and then run beads that follow the actual crack line itself on both sides. That should seal it tight. If you do not feel comfortable with doing that....I would look to replace the entire sheet of glass for a the best bet on security.

well great find, color me jealous. i check eugene's probably twice a week, not enough to find free finds like that.
