Honestly I think it would hold without it, so anything you add to that as a form of bracing would be a bonus. Might want to go with something a little thicker than say an 1/8th of an inch thick though.

I used just regular ol' silicone myself, but some people like to only use the GE 1 stuff. I just got the cheapest kind from home depot. Just give it plenty of cure time.

I want to put my oscar and parrots in there but other than that I am not sure. I will have an empty 75 gallon.

If I can't fill it then I will use it for my bearded dragon.

You can find plastic/pvc, and rubber fittings the same diameter as the holes and just seal around them.
