Hey,

Well sometimes people have animals that some how lead to other animals like in this case. When I got my parrots a few years ago they would eat fruits and pellets....still to this day. Mice have been attracted to the taste of bird food (www.mybirdstore.com best place for bird supplies!). So far we caught a lot of mice in glue traps....I have a three floor house.

Well...I'll just get to the picture. My parents decided to get a cat not only for the hope of mice population decrease...but my mom likes them and always wanted one. So one day I came home from school with a note and money of "Go with [cousin] to purchase cat supplies" well I purchased some random supplies, but little did I know we were getting the kitten from my uncles restraunt. Apparently a mother cat got in the basement gave birth to a litter and they all were adopted including the mother cat...except for one. This is what my cousin calls "The one no one wanted"....he has a german shepherd who is now 11 was the one no one wanted. Well we got this cute very playful kitten the employees said including my uncle the boss. Right now she's running around playing.

How do I teach her (Sofia) to use the litter box?

Should I declaw?

Also any other useful info for first time kitten/cat owners.

Any good sites for supplies?

Growth rates?

Thanks

If you want her to be a mouser don't declaw! Get her desexed though or she will go wandering or you will end up with half a dozen toms outside
Keep the litter tray clean and place her in it after meals if she does a poo else where pick it up and put it in the. Box and show her she will get the message quick cats are super clean and most train easily
You don't need much kittens play with everything paper andd string keeps them entertained for hours!

Put them in the box and scratch the litter with her paws.

Should I declaw?
No, its like cutting the tips of your fingers off.

Also any other useful info for first time kitten/cat owners.
Don't yell or hit it if it doesn't something wrong, it doesn't know any better.

Any good sites for supplies?
Maybe Petco.com since they always have deals going on.

Growth rates?
Double in size in a month or so. Before you know it it won't be that cute little kitten. They grow really fast.

Here is our kitten Desmond, got him in May when he was real little now hes huge.

lol that postw as delayed....thank for the info guys....cute pic of the cat. I will try to get a pic of my cat fro possible ID.....I will keep everyone updated

My cats rather play with a milk ring or piece of paper than any of the 1,000 toys I bought specifically for them. A favorite interactive toy is a laser pointer, both of mine have fun for hours chasing that thing.

One of my cats favorite toys is a drinking straw. She loves to play fetch with them. She'd got about a dozen stashed away around the house right now. Every time we think we've found them all and thrown them away, she comes running up with another one for us to throw for her...

When my cats were kittens, the toys they tended to like the most were little fuzzy balls that they could bat around and toss in the air. They also like string, and those little plastic balls with bells in them (but those will drive you crazy if your kitten likes them). As was said above, milk rings are popular. Some really like socks for some reason (with or without your toes in them...).

Congrats on the new kitten, they are so much fun. She should litter box train in no time.

One thing to note about not declawing her. If you aren't going to do it, then get a spray bottle with water and a little vinegar in it. Ever time you see her scratching on anything you don't want her to, squirt her with the spray bottle. A MUST HAVE is at least one scratching post/pad. If you can teach her to only scratch that and not furniture, then you'll be ahead of most of us.
