I wouldn't say most american keepers like to do that. Most people who buy fish from LFS only feed the fish what the LFS fed them. A lot of American MFKers (not forum members though) just feed their fish goldfish if that is what the fish will take. Everybody I know who had payaras at work kept them on live and never really attempted to get them off of live. You also have to consider that posting a thread on "I feed my fish goldfish" wouldn't make much sense. Just because almost all the feeding threads or posts are about non live foods, doesn't mean that most payara keepers are interested in getting their payaras on non live foods.
