they say if you avoid live foods w/ pacu that it takes some of the aggression out of them. and yes...they do love shrimp and crayfish. the first night we put our pacu in our tank she ate the 4-5 inch crayfish that was in there. all the crunching sounds coming from the tank were a little disturbing. they will also eat snails.

found this out the hard way too. you have to treat them like children...if it fits in their mouth, they will probably eat it.

so snails to eh?
i can get endless ramshorn snails
snail shell has to hurt going down, and out tho  :grinno:

i could only imagin how bad that would hurt!!! :nilly:

she got 2 of our mystery snails and grabbed one of our apple snails before i could get her stopped! we also have a bunch of ramshorn snails...as long as they stay in the gravel they are fine. once they get on the glass she eats them too. our snail population has dropped since we got her. just keep in mind that they will eat anything...

yes even nibble on intake tubes and valves later on.. have to try and hide as much as possible ..they play with things in their mouth and accidentally swallow objects like a child..always teething haha.. one of mine swallowed a valve and went through its body but was lodged in the rectum.. had to pull it out and then she healed up perfect..another one liked playing with the gravel and lodged a big piece in her nostril.. almost looked like a blue diamond erring in nose.. finally it fell out on its own but we thought we would need tweezers and operation again..they are always playing.. l never gave live food either and it makes such a difference when you later add some little fish to their tank..instead of eating them they nurture them.
