Got my breeding colony of mobas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The biggest male and female are both around 9". The smallest is around 4" and is the only female of the group that hasn't held eggs yet. The other four females have all held and as a matter of fact two females were holding the day before I got there and when we drained the tank after netting the fish out there was fry in the tank. They are WC and originally came from bluechipaquatics.

They still look pretty young 4-6 inches. Some can breed at that age but the broods are smaller and weaker. When they get 8-12 inches they look totally different.

Oh, i was estimated the females to be around 6 inches, but it is hard to tell in pics.

Jhutch, how big are those babies. I really like them, you can bring em on over here to my house LOL. Did you ever get the replacement 265 for them ? It looks like a 265 in your pic but its hard to tell with out a full tank shot.

Yep. It's a new 265. Got it for free with the setup or rather he threw it in with the setup. They are nice fish. I fed some those hybrid growouts to them that we got from you and they chowed down. They are very nice fish. Well worth the trip to jersey.

How many inches are the females ? Did the seller say if they had spawned for them yet ?

Sorry about that, i must have missed it. I thought they looked bigger, i know the size of my burundi and how the 265 dwarfs them so figured they were breeding size.

I would be real careful putting lace rock in with fronts. Its sharp if its the one im thinking of. My fronts have scrapes on them from my round rocks i put in the tank, i had one that almost put its eye out on a rock all ready. It gouged the skin all the way off like you were peeling a carrot and stopped just at the eye, he had a peel of skin waving off his head for a few days, he was very lucky. Nothing sharp should go into the tank, i have seen lots of fronts with body and head gouges and lots of pics of gorgeous fronts that were missing eyeballs. They spook and ram stuff with their heads. If they got any bigger they would be tank busters. I watched my alpha being stupid and he darted around ramming his head into rocks and glass , the more he hit the more panicked he got, retarded fish LOL but thats typical for frontosa.
