Got my new Argentine Tegu!

nice tegu...mind if I ask a general tegu question? Do ALL species of tegu need plants in their diet? I would love if I could find a completely carnivorous one whose diet would not change with age.

If given the right supplements tegus do not need to eat veggies or fruit. Infact most people don't bother to feed them veggie or fruit anyway and some won't even take too it. Young tegus are purely carnivorous though and really won't eat any plant matter until their older.

In addition to what rrcoolj said, I mainly just feed her fruit as a bit of a treat because she loves the sweetness of them.

You know what's wierd is that I figured out my tegu Reiley is actually a she and not a he . To me it just means that she will have more room in her cage but it would be cool to have a tegu with jowels . Aaaah well

riley being a female is what i called lol. however, on the plus side, you dont have to rename her.

As much as I liked her when she is green, I think she is cuter now that she is pretty much black/light brown and white. She looks like a little adult.
